The Iphone 5S - A Beautiful Cellphone But Is It Distinct Enough From Its' Forerunners?

By Julie Pearson

The Apple iPhone 5S, while it appears to be very like the Apple iPhone 5 as well as the Apple iPhone 5C, is definitely fairly distinctive in numerous ways. Yet, are those variations going to be quite adequate enough to get it the consumer interest which Apple are expecting?

We've been here previously: the iPhone 'S' dilemma. The newest cellphone arrives, taking the shell of the previous unit, offers several fresh odds and ends, after which, Apple claims it to be a totally new cell phone.

Which, in this case, it is actually, of course. But it's actually not. Well, generally it is. To be sure, it is the type of move that only Apple can easily accomplish along with virtually any certainty: the idea that it can take precisely the same chassis, toss in a completely new CPU, slightly superior battery and better camera, and consider it an all-conquering device.

Of course, Apple Incorporated understand what they're doing. They already know there are scores of people around the entire globe who're eager to see precisely what the Apple iPhone 5S is all about, although it does indeed 'look' identical to a couple of the earlier devices.

You'll find, of course, people who would certainly query the intent of releasing a phone, and after that - 12 months or so afterwards, simply just add an 'S' to the end of it in order to make it 'appear' different. Apple's response would probably be that no-one is actually pushing you as the consumer to buy the new hardware. And that is certainly a fair point. Without a doubt, it is a cellphone that has far too many hallmarks of its forerunner. And yes, it is the third time Apple has done this.

Also, Apple has managed to add it onto the market, complete among the list of the most costly Smartphones around, even with 3G plans. You will be looking at in excess of $80 a month to have one without an upfront charge in the USA, and upwards of $800 will be the price tag if you wish the cheapest available model, pushing all the way up to more than $1,000 for the 64GB option.

iPhone 5S Review

But if it was an exceptionally damaging business move, in case the marketplace was not prepared to settle for such a thing, then Apple would have collapsed as a Smartphone brand long ago... or at least have been lagging at the rear of their competitors.

That said, times are changing in the Smartphone arena. Where previously Apple was able to basically make the sort of phone it desired, and forget about the competition in the knowledge that it was not going to have to stress about losing consumers to a competitor, now it has been compelled to be aware that there are at least four decent alternatives for a consumer to take into account should they like to get a fairly superior cellular phone handset.

Apple is clearly conscious of this marketing change, be it with respect to the aluminum unibody of the HTC One, or the recent fight into low-light digital cameras, or the necessity for a strong processor as being a great headline grabber. And to be fair, it's dealt with these kinds of needs to some degree or other with respect to the new iPhone 5S.

Regardless of whether it's the all-new Touch ID home button (and that is superb), the huge leap in CPU power, or perhaps the fact the camera has, once again, been greatly improved upon in comparison to the iPhone 5 predecessor, the brand new iPhone is undoubtedly Apple's effort at bringing as much as it possibly could to the party without needing to re-plan the whole ethos over again.
