4 Practical Tips: Videos

By Kevin Faunce

Video production has long been an important part of marketing. In order to reach a larger amount of people, marketing firms are finding that it is absolutely essential that they branch out into the virtual realm. They have developed these strategies over time in order to insure the success of their campaigns; if you follow these video production tips closely, you will be sure to find your projects a success.

The first and most critical component of video production is that you absolutely must create a connection with the viewer. Video picks up where print advertising left off, allowing you to fully express the personality of your product. It is critical that you utilize this quality through the use of a spokesperson, or a scenario familiar to the viewer. The viewer must find the information about the product to be available and easy to understand.

If you are having trouble drawing people in, try adding some music in post-production. It is a great way to show people what you're all about and get them excited about your brand. When used correctly, music can bring out qualities in a character without them being pointed out or vocalized. You can use music to set the tone for the entire video, or just to elevate a particular scene. Make sure to try out a few different songs during the editing process in order to find the best possible fit.

For those of us that are not lucky enough to already know how to script, produce, and edit our own videos, consider this: production teams are available for hire, and they are able to do it all from beginning to end. These days, it is relatively inexpensive to produce a video. Your cell phones, tablets, and computers all have video cameras and editing software included on them! Hiring a professional, however, is still worth your money; at the very least, they will ensure the process goes smoothly, all the way from pre- to post-production.

Once you have finished the editing, what will you do? If you feel that you need help deciding what to do with the finished product, consider hiring a marketing expert. The internet is so vast; you want to make sure people can find your video! Your video should be on an accessible part of your website, such as the home page. It is equally as important to upload your video to a place where it can be rated, commented on, and shared easily. You'll be the talk of the town in no time!
